Moynalty Steam Threshing Festival

While this is typically a Sunday in August event, the trick is to go there the evening before, set up the tent so you start overnight, and in the evening, to wander into the village and experience the sounds and smells of many steam traction engines and rollers trundling through, parking up, and all in all providing a wonderful atmosphere for a relaxing pint and chat with friends.

"The peace and tranquillity of the picturesque town of Moynalty, Co Meath will once again be broken by the sounds and sights of a bygone era as the Moynalty Steam Threshing Festival gets underway."

Steam Threshing

A busy day for a crowd of people. Someone on the steam traction engine, another on the rick feeding the person feeding the threshing mill. The grain bags need watching too - filling fast. And the threshed straw flowing into the elevator, being stacked and read for those thatched houses that oh-so-need those long stalks.

Cutting the corn

Setting up the old McCormac binder behind the Ferguson 20, routing the twine through the knotting mechanism, and off we go. A day's work stucking the sheeves for a week or two until ready to bring for threshing.

Wheels & Waves

Whether in Biarritz (FR) or Lido di Camaoire (IT), the Wheels & Waves events bring together anyone interested in retro cool motorbikes of any shape or form.

"WHEELS AND WAVES – It’s a state of mind, a unique aestheticism, inspired by the motorcycle culture and shaken by our various influences. We rely on the past, on “savoir faire” to live the present and talk about the future.
FESTIVAL – Wheels and Waves creates timeless experiences, mixing various influences: motorcycle, surf, skate, music, art, allowing to dream, imaginate and share."

The Great Dorset Steam Fair

The GDSF is a World-renowned event and quite an experience. With around 2,000 exhibits, 200 tonnes of steam coal, 600 acres, there is enough to keep you busy for the many days of the festival. Camping is the way to go, where you can be fully immersed in the show. Everything from carousel galloping horses, to working ploughing steam traction engines, to vintage merry-go-rounds. It's a hell of a show.
